Plumbers put their best foot forward for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
by Lisa Carter, RN, Cancer Coach
At Carter’s My Plumber, we are putting our best foot forward, by making our plumbers aware that October is breast cancer awareness month. Breast cancer can affect not only the women in their lives, but our very own customers. We are wearing pink booties this month in order to express our concern for others in our community, along with supporting the cause to encourage women to have an annual mammogram screening.
Breast Cancer screening can save lives. Early detection is the key to survival of this dreaded disease. Breast cancer is the leading cause of death in women. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Each year it is estimated that 220,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer. 40,000 will die from this disease. Breast cancer in men is rare, however there are an estimated 2,150 men diagnosed each year, and approximately 410 will die each year.
At Carter’s My Plumber, we are all about supporting our community through efforts in education and outreach. We encourage you to make the loved ones in your life aware of the importance of breast cancer screening. We are Plumbers for a Cure!
